A SENSATIONAL FRENCH EARLY 19TH CENTURY TRANSITIONAL STYLE CHINESE LACQUER, EBONIZED FRUITWOOD AND VERT DE MER COMMODE.
The two-drawer chest is raised by handsome cabriole legs with high quality pierced wrap around foliate ormolu mounts.
At the center are the sans traverse drawers showcasing the cabinet maker’s high skill set and emphasizing the beautiful wood grain which spreads over the drawers.
The drawers and the sides are decorated with five spectacular and extremely decorative Japanese Lacquer panels, respectively depicting scenes of daily life and floral decors.
They are framed within a hammered ormolu band with rosettes on each corner in addition to lovely berried laurel pulls.
The bottom drawer displays an elegant scalloped shape with a centrale ormolu mount whilst the corners feature richly chased mounts of draped berried laurel garlands with fluted designs and inverted foliate finials.
Above is the impressively thick vert de mere marble top with mottled borders.
